You know, I’ve been thinking lately about how many decisions we make in a single day. From what to have for breakfast to whether we should take that new job offer – life’s basically one long series of choices, isn’t it? And honestly, some days I feel pretty good about the calls I make, while other days… well, let’s just say I could use some guidance. That’s actually what got me digging into what the Bible has to say about decision-making. I figured if I’m going to be making countless choices anyway, maybe there’s some wisdom in there that could help point me in the right direction. Turns out, there’s quite a bit – and some of these verses have genuinely changed how I approach the big (and little) decisions in my life.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

A man’s heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.

Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days.

Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way, walk in it, whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise.

Without counsel, plans go awry, but in the multitude of counselors, they are established.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.

For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

For wisdom is a defense as money is a defense, but the excellence of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to those who have it.

The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.

Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you.

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established.

For by wise counsel you will wage your own war, and in a multitude of counselors there is safety.

For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it?

Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, and the strength of salvation; the fear of the LORD is His treasure.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from evil.

For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night.

Test all things; hold fast what is good.

He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely will be delivered.

And they prayed and said, You, O Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good.

As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
