I was completely burnt out last spring. Like, couldn’t-get-out-of-bed-some-mornings kind of tired. Work was crazy, my mom was sick, and I felt like I was disappointing everyone including myself. You know that feeling where you’re tired of being tired?
My sister kept bugging me to try reading some Bible stuff about exhaustion. I figured it would be the usual “God won’t give you more than you can handle” nonsense, which frankly wasn’t helping. But she was persistent, so I gave it a shot.
Some of these verses actually surprised me. They don’t pretend you should feel grateful for being overwhelmed or that you just need more faith. A few of them straight up say it’s okay to be weary and that help is available.
My favorite one talks about trading your heavy load for an easier one. Another promises rest for people who are completely worn out. Not magical thinking, just practical hope.
Whether you’re dealing with caregiver fatigue, work burnout, or just life being too much right now, these verses might give you something to hold onto when everything else feels impossible.

He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.

My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles.

The joy of the LORD is your strength.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

The LORD will give strength to His people; the LORD will bless His people with peace.

We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

Seek the LORD and His strength; seek His face evermore!

Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees.

My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees.

The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise Him.

Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the LORD.

Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.

In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: that power belongs to God.

Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy.

Behold, all those who were incensed against you shall be ashamed and disgraced; they shall be as nothing, and those who strive with you shall perish.

With God are wisdom and strength; He has counsel and understanding.

Remember my affliction and my wanderings, the wormwood and the gall. My soul continually remembers it and is bowed down within me.

So I will strengthen them in the LORD, and they shall walk up and down in His name, says the LORD.

I will lift up my eyes to the hills—from whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

Renewed Strength for the Weary
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, acknowledging the weariness that weighs heavily on our hearts and minds. We seek Your strength to uplift and restore us in our times of struggle. Lord, grant us the courage to face our challenges and the endurance to keep moving forward when we feel too exhausted to continue.
Fill our spirits with hope and remind us that Your grace is sufficient for every burden we carry. Help us to lean on You, finding solace in Your presence when the world feels overwhelming. May Your love be our anchor, bringing peace to our souls and renewing our strength like eagles soaring high.
As we navigate our weary days, let us remember the promise that those who hope in You will renew their strength. Teach us to find rest in Your arms and to trust in Your divine plan. Help us to support one another and share the light of Your love with those around us, offering encouragement to the weary.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
