Seeking Forgiveness Through Fasting

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, recognizing the sacred act of fasting as a pathway to draw closer to You. Your Word in Isaiah 58:6 teaches us that true fasting is about breaking the chains of injustice and setting the oppressed free. Help us to fast with a heart focused on repentance and reconciliation.

In Joel 2:12-13, You call us to return to You with all our hearts, with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Lord, we lay our burdens and sins before You, seeking Your mercy and forgiveness. Cleanse our hearts and renew our spirits as we seek to align ourselves with Your will.

May our times of fasting draw us closer to You, as we echo the words of Psalm 35:13, where David humbled himself with fasting. Teach us humility and reliance on You, Lord. As we refrain from earthly sustenance, may we nourish our spirits with Your Word and presence, understanding the depth of Your love and grace.

We also remember the promise found in Matthew 6:16-18 that when we fast, we should do so in secret, knowing that You see our hearts and reward us. Let our motivation be pure, reflecting our desire to seek Your forgiveness and to grow in our faith.

Thank You, Lord, for the gift of fasting and the powerful transformation it brings. Guide us as we practice this spiritual discipline, and may we always seek forgiveness and restoration in You.

In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
