I’m not naturally a morning person, but something about starting the day with prayer has become weirdly important to me. Used to be I’d roll out of bed, grab coffee, and rush out the door already stressed. Now I try to spend a few minutes talking to God before the chaos starts.
My grandmother always prayed in the mornings. I’d stay at her house as a kid and find her sitting at the kitchen table with her Bible and coffee, just quietly talking to God about the day ahead. Seemed boring then, but now I get it. There’s something about giving God the first part of your day instead of the leftover scraps at night.
I’m still figuring out what morning prayer looks like for me. Sometimes it’s formal, other times it’s just “God, help me not lose my mind today.” But having specific verses to pray through has made it feel less random and more intentional.
